Parish Council Updates – October 1, 2009

St. Clare’s Parish Council (PC) and related Commissions and Committees would like to provide feedback to our parishioners and the community at large regarding our efforts to serve you. This is the first of many updates that you will receive from the PC and Commissions in our parish bulletin.

At our September 28th meeting, the Worship Commission and PC were excited to announce the return of the 6:00 p.m. Sunday Mass. We thank the many teens who are fundraising to support the Mass, and Paula Miller who championed the effort to reinstate a Sunday evening Mass at St. Clare.

The PC is working with Fr. Sheridan to update its Constitution and By-laws. Fr. Sheridan authored a revised Constitution that better reflects the community of today. The current Constitution is a quarter of a century old, pre-dating the personal computer, Internet, and email as we know it.

For example, the outdated document says that a sub-committee should meet in advance of any PC session to complete an agenda for each meeting. Today we can easily communicate, add, and modify agenda items without that pre-meeting.

Our Vicariate representative, Anne Berschback, highlighted the wealth of information that is now available on our new Renaissance Vicariate Website. The website covers all 26 parishes in our Vicariate, with details from meetings and events to Mass schedules. Take a look. The website address is www.renvic.org.

By now everyone in the Parish should have received a PIC Committee invitation for the St. Clare Monte Carlo Night Party, scheduled for November 7th in the Church Social Hall. Remember to mark your calendar for this major parish event, and send in your reservation as soon as possible. It is going to be a lot of fun—with Casino games, live dealers, music, food and beverages.

Our PIC Committee is still seeking donations of prizes to award to winners. If you have prizeworthy items to donate, please contact the parish 313-647-5000, or drop us a note. As always, more info may be found on our parish website: www.stclarem.org or contact me directly.

Members of the Parish Council encourage your involvement and input. You may contact us any time, through our parish website or by letter.

Bruce Hubbell, Secretary
St. Clare Parish Council
